Kee Biu Ling of Toms River, New Jersey, died peacefully at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia on March 31, 2026, aged 76, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Fujian, China, in 1949, and emigrated to Singapore with his parents and twin sister at the age of eight. Kee’s life was full of adventure, highlighted by his student activism and a career in construction during Singapore’s modernization. He moved to the United States with his wife, children, and mother in 1987 and has called Toms River home since 1989, proudly becoming a naturalized American citizen in 1999. Kee and his wife, Yong, ran various Chinese restaurants before leaving the entrepreneurial life after 19 years. He continued to work for various Atlantic City casino restaurants from 2006 to 2025 as a member of UNITE HERE Local 54. Renowned among his family and friends for his hard work, natural curiosity, and love of cooking (especially his famous ginger scallion lobster and curry puffs), he will be dearly missed by many.
Kee always emphasized and practiced the importance of family, and kept closely in touch with his extended family both in Singapore and the United States. His legacy of love and generosity is continued by his devoted wife of over 48 years, three beloved children, his cherished sister, his nieces and nephews and their families.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who are able to donate to their choice of the following organizations:
The Fund for the Abramson Cancer Center (https://www.pennmedicine.org/giving/fund-for-abramson-cancer-center)
